Jessica & Adam

Nothing quite like this dream destination wedding venue.. high in the Alps mountains you can say I do with a glacier view by overlooking one of France’s largest glacier, the Mer de Glace. This wedding is one you can’t miss.

This American couple from Oregon had never even been to Chamonix before the big I do! After the bride’s French teacher’s recommendation, Jessica fell in love with the idea of a unique altitude wedding. The couple decided to marry at an altitude hotel 1913 m up with marvelous views of the Mer de glace, Grotte de Glace, the Dru and Grandes Jorasses. Located on the northern side of the Mont Blanc massif, the glacier below is one of the longest in France at almost 3.5 miles long and is made from two conjoining glaciers. Nothing in the world quite like this wedding venue. This intimate wedding party of 20 guests spent their entire weekend relaxing and soaking in the panoramic views from their privatized hotel. The first night they enjoyed a traditional Alpine dinner of raclette and blueberry pie before heading off to their newly renovated chalet inspired rooms.

The morning of, the bride and her girls started doing their own hair and makeup. Just like when the bride was a young girl, her mother helped her put on her makeup and prepare for her big day.. the only difference now, there is champagne involved!

The ceremony was on the scenic terrace, this particular day was extremely windy, but this bride was gleaming in her glittery gown. Armed in her fur shawl she headed down the aisle to see her husband and his best friends dressed in a posh plaid suits fitting to the Alpine background. The most touching part of the ceremony was that both of the moms were the celebrants for the wedding. They shared touching moments before the ring blessing where every guest said a few words.

The reception was cozy, a solo guitarist played soft music over a French feast. Since everyone was close friends, they really let loose on the dance floor! The only time they stopped was to enjoy the sparkler-topped French wedding cake, the croquembouche. After the perfect altitude wedding, the couple and their guests had a nice brunch before taking the quaint train ride back to the valley. Hand and hand winding through the mountains, J & A were ready to start their lives as Mr. & Mrs.

We loved this bride’s winter shawl, we featured it on a blog! See more here.
