Amylee and Luke’s Enchanting Wedding Weekend in Cahors
Location: Château Mercues, Cahors
Couple: Amylee and Luke
Season: Spring
The Venue:
Amylee & Luke chose the iconic Château de Mercuès in Cahors for their wedding. Perched above the Lot Valley and surrounded by vineyards, this historic château offered a striking blend of grandeur and intimacy.
With its medieval architecture, refined interiors, and sweeping views over the countryside, the setting created a truly timeless atmosphere for their celebration. The château’s elegant terraces and gardens provided the perfect backdrop for each moment of the day, allowing their guests to fully immerse themselves in the beauty of the region.
A place where heritage, landscape, and understated luxury come together, making their wedding both memorable and deeply personal.
The Wedding Weekend:
The Setting:
Amylee & Luke, an Australian couple, chose to celebrate their wedding in France, drawn by their love for romance, history, and meaningful experiences. While they initially envisioned a château wedding, they were not set on a specific location. What mattered most was finding a place that felt authentic, intimate, and deeply special – a celebration just for the two of them.
When they discovered Château de Mercuès, nestled above the Lot Valley and surrounded by its own vineyards, the choice became obvious. As passionate wine lovers, particularly fond of Bordeaux, they were instantly captivated by the estate’s connection to winemaking and its timeless atmosphere.
The Ceremony:
The ceremony took place in complete intimacy in the château’s garden. There were no guests – just Amylee & Luke, their warm and thoughtful celebrant, and an abundance of flowers.
It was a deeply emotional moment, filled with sincerity and quiet beauty. Standing together in this peaceful setting, both were visibly moved, exchanging their vows with tears in their eyes. A ceremony that felt simple, yet profoundly meaningful.
The Decor:
At Château de Mercuès, very little is needed. The beauty of the setting speaks for itself.
The historic architecture, the surrounding vineyards, and the carefully restored interiors created a naturally elegant backdrop. The floral design, soft and abundant, complemented the château without overpowering it, enhancing the atmosphere with subtle romance.
With the entire day ahead of them, Amylee & Luke took the time to explore every corner of the estate, capturing moments throughout its gardens, terraces, and historic spaces – creating a collection of memories in a place that felt entirely their own.
Cocktail Hour and Reception:
Following the ceremony, the couple enjoyed an intimate dinner in the château’s restaurant.
The experience was warm, refined, and deeply personal. The staff took exceptional care of them throughout the evening, ensuring every detail felt special. Other guests staying at the château warmly congratulated them, adding to the sense of celebration and shared joy.
A quiet, elegant ending to a day that was entirely about them.
A celebration of Love:
Amylee & Luke’s wedding was a beautiful reminder that a celebration does not need grandeur to be unforgettable. In the intimacy of a château, surrounded by history, vineyards, and quiet elegance, they created a moment that was entirely their own.
A day defined by emotion, simplicity, and authenticity – and one that will stay with them forever.
